CarbON

We are a students scientific association founded in 2022 at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels. Currently, our team consists of members from various departments and faculties. We are mainly focused on projects that introduce environmentally friendly solutions. The supervisor of our students association is dr inż. Jakub Szczurowski from the department of fuel technology, located at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels. In the past, we have been involved in printing jaw pads used in surgeries, in cooperation with the University Hospital in Krakow. We completed the Oxygen tent project, inspired by the shortage of oxygen concentrators caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which consisted of designing and constructing an oxygen concentrator that works on the principle of the PSA (pressure swing adsorption) method, in a manner consistent with the idea of a circular economy. The environmental analysis of this unit allowed us to identify critical points that determine the moments in the life cycle most harmful to the environment. We are currently engaged in the ""Aircarbon"" project, the goal of which is to develop a prototype system that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using the direct air capture (DAC) method. We are also the creators of a campaign to collect used disposable electronic cigarettes on the AGH campus, the components of which will be used to make one of our next projects.
